Hand brake cable

    Hello, How do I replace the hand brake cables on my 1997 Cobra? I been told I need to remove seats to install cable. Is it this correct? Thx 4 the help

    There are 3 cables down there. One is short and runs from the handle to an equalizer. The other 2 run from the equalizer to the respective brakes. How you replace depends on which one. Either way, I don't recall removing the seats. The middle cable from the handle is a popular one to break. just pull out the console and follow directions in Chiltons about sticking a pin/nail/rivet in the little hole to hold the spring from uncoiling. It sucks if you let the spring unravel. Fairly easy job to do though.

    I think that there was a recall on something to do with the E brake. If yours is broken, maybe you can get the dealer to fix it for free. We have a 1997 Cobra also. I'm pretty sure that we got a letter years ago about there being an issue with it.
