My Vortech supercharger came with a little "chip in a box" dongle thing that connects to the mas air meter on the intake side. It's so the voltage can be adjusted for different intakes/tunes I am told. Anyway... Being a computer savvy guy I know how chips and cpus don't like heat. It tends to make them all wonky. It can cause voltage fluxuations and even make a cpu add 4+4 wrong. Heat is bad for electronics, we all know that. So this little "chip in a plastic box" was installed so that it was mounted loose to the top of the intake tube. Not pretty but not in the way of anything and free of any real heat other than engine bay ambient heat. So purely for asthetic reasons an installer decided to tape it to the back of the supercharger mount. This put the little box right next to the valve cover and the rather toasty supercharger. Weeks go by and I notice that after running for only 5mins or so my car seems to run rather rich. If I get on it, it tended to fart a bit. I sort of expected some of this being that it's an auto. And I am generally clueless on how a supercharged, automatic, FI car is suppose to run. At my friends house I pop the hood to show off the hotness, I had just turned the car off from a 30min drive, I point out the little "chip in a box" and when I touch it it's on fire. I mean HOT!! We both look at each other and know right away, that can't be good. So I un-tape it and place it back in the original location Vortech had put it. It's been a week now and two things have happened. 1) I don't back fire anywhere near as much, I mean pretty much never 2) My average fuel economy via the built in guage has read a consistant 16.3. Now it reads a consistant 16.7
