Hi everyone, I hope this is the right place to put this. I got my first Cobra this past Friday, a Laser Red 01. Wow! What a car, I love it. I traded a 2000 Mustang GT for it.
Anyway, I don't know much about Cobra's at all. Any tips/pointers will be greatly appreciated. I would like to get the car up to 300 rear wheel hp if possible.
It currently has straight pipes on it (bought it that way). But I already have a Bassani catted X and FRPP catback with mufflers lined up, for only $250 :)

Anyway, my name is Gary, I'm 29, two kids, in the Air Force, stationed in Colorado Springs.
My car: 2001 Cobra, 29,450 miles, stock except for the straight pipes.

Hey Gary, how you doing!

You made your first mistake, nosing around the forums, next thing you will have the mod fever and it will be all over you. Good luck, I hope you enjoy your snake and like minded that make up the community.

Congrats on the new Cobra. :nice:

Should go with a full Bassani exhaust system. They are my favorite

    Hi Gary
Welcome to Cobra Land..I just purchased a Black 99 Cobra two weeks ago. Drove it home from L.A. to Seattle. What a blast. I can't wait to do a few mod's and meet the rest of the guys around Seattle area.
Best of luck with your new toy.

Congrats on the new purchase. I hope your 2 kids don't like presents anymore, bc you will be buying more for your cobra then for them :D
As far as hitting 300rwhp... my mods put me at 320 (Mustang Dyno), but there are a couple things that I would have changed in my set up...

    1) Wouldn't have gone with MAC CAI... would have gone with JLT or JLP
    2) Would have gone with s bigger gear... maybe 3.90s or 4.10s

    Enjoy your new car!!!

Welcome, sir! Like everyone else said - the mod bug bites hard around here. I've learned that there are way more ideas and suggestions here than I have money! It won't add horses, but I'd suggest picking up the MGW short throw shifter as you make modifications. It's not expensive, easy to install, and oh so worth it.

    Enjoy!

Man he nailed it here about the kids! My poor two daughters get enough junk from the grandparents, so I just split the expendable cash with the wife. I have found a great forum for SVT ownere is svtperformance.com. Go check it out. Lot's of good stuff. As for the FRPP catback, cancel your order and get a Magnaflow right here on partshopper.com. I love mine!

Thank you all for the welcome. I love my Cobra, I baby her a lot, then when I do get on it I feel kind of bad. I still drive it like it's a GT, I'm not used to being able to climb so high in the RPM's.
I am probably going to get that Bassani from that guy and the catback, it's a great deal. I still have MagnaFlow mufflers I took off my GT sitting in the garage, I may throw those on with the Bassani X.
    Again, thank you all :)

Welcome to Stangnet. I am a newbie myself with a Cobra. Let me know if you have any SN95 mustang questions though. J/K
