Alright, I got the 10,000k HID kit and a pair of amber LED 3156 bulbs for the sides. All in all I am EXTREMELY pleased with the difference in lighting thanks to the HID's. Night and day doesn't even explain it. I mounted the driver side ballast sideways in between the head lamp and battery. There is a metal plate there and I used the double sided tape to stick the ballast there. It is very tight in there so I am confident the ballast isnt going anywhere. Next I mounted the passenger side ballast flat under my intake. Again I used the double sided tape and a tie wrap to keep it planted. Then came the 3156 LED 18 bulbs for the sides. These are really cool looking and best of all are white when off and amber when on. IMO they do the clear side reflectors justice. Next time to plug in the HID bulbs. On the website it said these were blue going torwards purple which I wanted to contrast with the dark blue color of my car. They are actually very blue/white which looks nice IMO. Here are some shots. I messed with the white balance a bit to get different shots. I live out in the bonnies and with these lights I can finally see more then 2 ft ahead of me They are awesome!! A very easy install that you just need to take your time with as to not mess up the bulbs. I actually wore a pear of latex gloves as to not accidentally get any smudges on the bulbs if I touched them by mistake. Time to save up so I can get my drivetrain stuff installed.
Thanks! I got the HIDs from Stangmods. http://www.stangmods.com/Mustang-HID-Lighting-from-StangMods-com-s/61.htm $249.95 shipped. They come with a 1 year warranty as well.
Yep. I have that planned for tonight. We got a torrential down pour yesterday and couldn't take any pics outside the garage.
0K, here we go... I am no professional photographer by any means but I was able to get the same exact color in the pics as in real life. Not bad for a newbie photog. From the front bumper of my car to the garage door is 85 feet. I actually went out there with a tape measurer and measured the distance for all you Stangnet bastards. Took these from on top of the hood: From Inside the car: From Behind Car Pics of the HID's. The rays of light you see coming off the head lights are viewable in real life. You can see them for the first two feet or so. W/o Flah: W/Flash I freakin love these lights!! One of my fave "looks" mods thus far.
It was a ****, but I managed to find a flat head that would turn the adjuster. Lowered them and evened them out too. Thanks for the heads up geoffsgt. And thanks for the compliments guys
I thought the pass side light was supposed to be aimed higher as a courtesy to drivers coming towards you... or I guess another way of saying it is the drivers side light is supposed to be lower, as a courtesy... Thats the way I was taught.
Well the first night I took em out for a spin my mom happened to be driving by in the opposite direction and later informed me (When I asked why she didn't stop or at least wave) that I had pretty much blinded her and didn't even know it was me. So yeah, lower them to at least bumper level out of courtesy. I just didn't know it could be done. I am one of those people that hates it when the guy behind you is blinding you from the reflection in your side mirrors. I definitely don't want to be "one of them". Plus anything you can do to minimize attention from the cops is a good thing. Btw Orange I saw your car pics in the other thread (18x315's). Your car is freaking mean dude!! Nice!!
if anyone is interested, i have access to HID kits for about $150. any temperature (color), and sizes(even fogs) and everything included.
;[ only if they made projectors nicer for you guys. Take some more pictures on the garage wall to see if its fixed. Other than that it looks good.
