How Do I...replace Outside Mirror Glass?

Posted this question on the 2010-2012 section but no replies...

I want to replace my 2010 GT's outside mirror glass with the 2011-12 version with the convex mirror piece. It appears that the 2010s use the same size & shape but without the convex piece.

Anyway, Ford Manual says to remove the glass by firmly pulling it straight out of the housing - has anybody actually done this or seen it done?

Do it all the time, that's how you replace all mirror glass. Just pull, just don't pull like an animal and break the tabs in the back.

Yes, be careful about the tabs - or worm gears. When I installed my Agent 47 mirrors I "injured" one. It continues to operate properly and has for 20K miles but I know it's not right.
