LOL No way dude, I bought mine for 6500$! It's in great shape, look at the pics in my garage, the carb on my car is worth more than that heap as a whole. You can get more parting it out.

You're right, I'm just "assuming" it's got structural rust issues by the fact that it's sitting outside in the elements successfully pretending to be a planter. I have no idea how long it’s been sitting there, but past exposure to classic automotive lawn art leads me to believe that it’s probably rotting from the ground up.bnickel said:what am i missing that you guys are seeing? it looks to me like a decent body, a lot of surface rust to be sure but that can be sanded off and is not detrimental to the structure. even if needs floors the rest of the body looks to workable and it is a fastback, if it was a coupe i'd say it wasn't worth more than a few hundred bucks but for a fastback with a fairly decent shell 5-600 bucks is a pretty decent deal.
Yeah, most likely you're right, unfortunately.Platonic Solid said:You're right, I'm just "assuming" it's got structural rust issues by the fact that it's sitting outside in the elements successfully pretending to be a planter. Being from CT I'm probably unfairly negatively tainted. I really know nothing about the lifespan of a car sitting outside in OK. You being from TX probably have a better instinct in this area.bnickel said:i believe he said earlier that the floors looked good.

Must be nice. Salvage yards around here don't carry anything older than 1985.bnickel said:there are several older car wrecking yards around this part of the country and as long as the interior is out of the car or at least if the carpet is out they seem to hold up very well sitting outside.
RED2001GT said:It's NOT worth buying that car in the condition that it's in. You will need a LOT of money to recondition it. You are better off buying one that needs "minimal" body and mechanical work. It costs more to recondition a rustbucket than it does to buy one that's in decent condition.
What you want is a screw driver or other solid item to "poke" at the floors and other metal objects.timwcol2 said:when i go back ill take some more pics a little closer. and of the floor and trunk and look to see if the windows are any good

The floors will "oil can" if they are getting thin. Step on them, don't just look at them. First they get thinner and thinner before they rot all the way through.
Look at edges and corners underneath. IIRC there isn't much aftermarket for the later big Mustangs, so it will be annoying to try to find any replacement metal. Take your time and bring a good light and maybe a blanket or old clothes. This is the worst time to hurry at all.
I hope that helps. I've made some hasty decisions because I got enfatuated with cars. I'd hate to see you do it.
