I am thinking about pricing some paint this week for my mustang and i dont know how much i should get. I am getting black paint and i want to lay at least 4 coats of paint on it. And if anyone has any paint schemes that look good with black i am open to suggestions. I was thinking of black with a little bit of pearl metalic in it.

I used 2 1/2 gallons on mine, that included the engine compartment, under hood, trunk, and jambs as well as behind fenders.tru getting some powder pearls, they have A LOT of colors and that way you can add till you get the color you want. Also always buy extra paint because it hard to get the same formula when its mixed(metallics mainly)

Cool thanks for the reply. My car is black now so I dont think i will need as much as you used. Do you think 1 gallon or 1 1/2 gallons will do? Anyone else have paint scheme that will look good with black?

a gallon is plenty, since you dont have a transparent color but the extra 1/2 will come in handy for detailing stuff

Well i has looking at factory black paint. So that is a single stage, I may be wrong but dont they include the clear and harder with it? Also i dont have to buy primer because my car is already painted.
