How the heck do I get this out?!?

Not sure if this should be tech or talk...but anyways....I posted this in the 5.0L section too but maybe you guys can help me out here.

How do I get the center double vent unit out of the dash?!? I have tried prying with a flat screwdriver, but no luck. Is there a trick to this? I want to install a dual guage vent pod, but I can't get the old ones out!

mine vents just pull out, and then you pop the clips that hold the surround for the vents in. Thats the way i have gotten it out before, but i dont know if its the right way or not.

Ya mean one of these?
yeah you pop out each vent before you pop out the casing. Be warned the clips will more than likely just snap off.

Yeah that's the one lol. I'm actually considering making one out of fiberglass or something but I think I'm too lazy for that.
