I know the mechanical roller lifters are far superior to hyd roller lifters. If you adjusted the hyd roller lifter preload down to the point where the plunger bottoms out and back it off .010-.012" for thermal expansion would there be problems from this. It would be similar to running a mech roller lifter. you wouldnt colapse the hyd's at high rpm. I wish I had a hyd roller lifter to inspect for issues doing this. What do you people think?

hyd lifter can also pump up lessening accuracy at higher rpms

yeah bad idea... At higher Rpm's the lifters may tend to pump up. Even a little is too much because the valves will start to stay open all the time. Besides, that doesnt solve the heavy hydraulic lifter problem. just get some solids and go for the gold.... But I bet you have one of them short deck 302's so your gonna have to pull the heads off to change the lifters to solid :(.
