They probably switched out the instrument cluster.. that actually happens a lot on the sn95's because those gauges have a tendancey to just stop working..
if the car runs well.. dont worry about it... but be pissed off you were lied too

the vin (on my car) is on the dash, close to the cowel of the hood.. you should be able to see it in the front window from outside the car.
