Im sorry if anyone is offended but there are some really good mechanics on this board. i know its not a stang but im sure someone can throw me a bone on this one. thanks in advance. im having an issue with my 94 jeep cherokee laredo. its my dd. its a 5.2 MPI V8 AWD all the time. Im trowing obd1 codes of 12, 21, 52, and 55 i did some research and found that 12* Direct battery input to PCM was disconnected within the last 50 key-on cycles. 21** Neither rich nor lean condition detected from the oxygen sensor input. or Oxygen sensor input voltage maintained above the normal operating range. 52** Oxygen sensor signal input indicates rich air/fuel ratio condition during engine operation. 55* Completion of diagnostic trouble code display on the malfunction indicator lamp (check engine lamp). The first one doesnt really make sense since i havent disconnected the battery since i bought the jeep. the other two are decent information but i dont know what to do from this point. Does anyone think i should replace the 02 sensors? im hoping not since they arenot cheap. what might be going on that im not seeing? Its smokey and rough when its warming up. the last thing i have to do is check the oil level when it cools down a bit to see if its burning oil. any thoughts?
When is the last time it had a full tune up? Distributor cap & rotor, plugs, wires, fuel filter change, etc? That might help with the rough running. If the O2 sensors are original, then it is possible they are worn out. Pull one out and inspect it, maybe post a picture here. Sorry that's probably not helpful at all.
well i bought the jeep about 2 months or so ago. it had 153000 when i got. i dont know what the maintenance history on it is. i have spark plugs that i need to install but ive done some good maintenance to it. even TEH seafoam looks like im goanna go under it after work tonight to check on the 02 sensors. ill take a pic if i can get it off lol. anyone else?
someone want to move this over there? i dont usually go exploring outside the 4.6 section, i didnt know thanks
