Anyone else here have a GT that's faster than it seems like it should be? At the 'track' I've taken some cars that I definately shouldn't have, maybe it's just a driver thing but I've heard from a few people that my car is really fast for a stock (almost) GT. Input?

Don't have any, I'm gonna try and go this week and run at the track though. This probably looks stupid now..lol...because I have no way to describe what I'm talking about

Just the quad/adjuster, RAI, and the short throw. I barely have any tools and nowhere in front of my house to jack up a car

Ive had import guys tell me that my cars faster than a GT should be apparently they smoke GT's all day until they actually race me an get waxed by 4 or more cars! Funny how that works :rlaugh:

yeah maybe it's just the fact that I hear "GT's are slow" all the time and forget that a high 13 second car is still very fast compared to an ordinary car, it's just "slow" compared to other faster cars

You really need to go to a track and get some times before you will know anything. Who you beat on the street is a poor indicator.

Your car always seems faster on the street than at the track. I would take it real slow on the launch if you are running street tires. They don't do anything but spin if you launch with the rpm's too high.

sorry, but theres no such thing as a factory freak. cars are mass produced on an assenbly line with the same tolerances. unless someone accidently dropped some cobra heads on your GT, its going to run like every other GT out there. ive seen some guys run stock cars at 13.8xx, but there are reasons for that, like good weather conditions. dont judge your car by who you beat on the street b/c 8/10 drivers on the street dont know how to properly drive their car, and there are too many factors on the street.

with your mods, assuming youre a decent to good driver, i would say you'd run ~14.0-14.4 @ ~99 mph

Sure there is, especially when your tolerances are as loose as Ford's.

You know that used to be true for me....when I was N/A (from almost stock to cammed W/ 292RWHP) my car would feel very quick on the street....but when I went to the track, it always seemed to slow down some...espeically when almost stock. Felt SLOW SLOW on the track.

BUT now with 479RWHP....its weird, but my car actually feels faster on the track. The gears go by VERY quick and there doesnt seem to be any "comon lets go" in between gears, because they are over with very quick. I just really dont have time to think about it I guess :rlaugh: . But I like it :D

    +1!!!!
I hate it when im at the track and people say "oh its slow...it only ran high 13s" ....and most of these people bought their 10 or 11 or 12 second car. They havnt worked their way up from the mid 14s like I did, they dont realize that anywhere in the 13s is actually fast....you can get moving in a hurry with a 13 second car IMO. I felt the difference from stock vs bolton in my car, and it was pretty big to me...with just an X pipe & E water pump, I was able to lay down 190' of rubber in 2nd gear alone...that takes power. :nice:
Now SLOW is a 16 second car...that takes forever lol.

Like I said, the only time my car felt slow was at the race track....but probably because I was getting beat most of the time :rlaugh: . I always got paired with freegin 10 second cars :nonono:

I know what you mean feeling its slow at the track.....on all my 13.1 passes it didnt feel that fast, even after I ran 13.1 I was really happy but now I dont think of it as fast until I look what others are running......when it goes 12.999 with only a few more minor mods then Ill think its fast lol

Exactly what I was thinking. Especially the tolerances on the cam gears, that alone can be worth 5-10hp.
