Are you referring to the stock rubber intake tube ??? or the Hydrocarbon trap, that's inside of the rubber tube ?? And what hole, are you talking about ?? There is no hole to plug up..However, if you have the Steeda air intake, Steeda now has it's own plastic intake tube..Just go to www.steeda.com and you'll see it on the home page, below the supercharger

if you look at the bottom side of the rubber intake tube you'll see a oval shaped like plastic canister, this is called a noise muffler.i'm wondering if you take this off and plug up the hole, will it effect the air flow?

what is frdfrst referring to ?? Does he mean the HC trap that's inside of the rubber tube ?? I have no idea what he's talking about, I don't know of any oval shaped cannister..The hydrocarbon trap is round, not oval...

You mean, it's not inside the tube ?? Then where is it? under the throttle body side ? or underneath the factory airbox side ?? I have no idea as to what your referring to..

its pretty well hidden unless you know its there.i took it off my 97 fi50 when i had it and installed the intake on it.it is supposed to quiet done the noise from the air going into the intake as a reg. muffler does.it has to effect airflow as the steeda, and the rest of the intakes don't have them.i just ordered the steeda intake as i already have the other half of it.:nice: :nice:

frdfrst, I just checked with bigcat who is also one of our senior members and is also an ASE certified techincian, and he looked everywhere on his 05 Mustang and he can't find anything on his car, that even comes close to resembling this oval plastic cannister, that your describing..Are you sure this device is on an 05 or newer Mustang ?? or is this on your F-150 truck ??

    From another site:
"The next modification done was removing the Hydrocarbon filter right after the MAF sensor (see pic below). This piece adds a fairly large restriction in the air inlet. Other tests have show removing this piece without a tune will actually cause the car to lose power. This is due to the ETC system and can be taken care of within the tune. I can't stress how important it is for the 2005 Mustang to get a tune whenever any modification is made.
Removing the HC filter provided additional 10rwhp and 9rwtq when combined with the SCT tune. That brings the new numbers to 272 rwhp / 297 rwtq. "

I cant hotlink it but its from mustang depot dot com under tuning the 05 mustang

Look, it's like this..you came onto this forum asking for help, However everytime we have asked you questions about this muffler or container, you haven't provided us with any straight forward answers..Both bigcat and myself have asked you 2 different times, if you have any pics of this thing and not once have you bothered to give us a very simple yes or no answer..Therefore, if you really want our help, you need to co-operate with us by answering our questions, otherwise please don't waste our time..Thank you

Let's get something straight right now, we have been more than patient with you..And all you've provided us with, are nothing but riddles..Bottom line is this, we don't have the time nor the tolerance for games..Therefore, if your un-willing to provide us with straight forward answers to our questions, then don't bother posting on this forum..There are other people, who are in real need of our support and help..:notnice: and Btw, we don't need to see your intake tube..I have the complete Steeda intake kit and know what it looks like, which has absolutely nothing to do with this supposed plastic cannister of muffler, you claim exsits
