You vs 96 Cobra? You've got:

You will get walked hard like this as long as he can drive. You will need signifantly more work to run with a DOHC Cobra, as your vert is heavy and your stock auto eats alot of power up.

Yea the cobra has got 305hp right? He'll walk ya like a dog on a leash  Not to crack on your car, thats ANY stockish 5.0. Just gotta make the power to run em....

Exactly what it will take? There are a million options. A shot of nitrous never hurt anyone :nice:

Buddy of mine bought a 97cobra I know thats preaty stock with 4.30's, mgw shifter, and a very crappy exh. (some home made deal that had dumps...gone now for a bbk x and magna-flow catback) with these mods the prev. owner ran 13.2 at like 104 or some thing like that.

If he has some gear watch out.

I raced one last summer. I didn't get the best launch and I know he did, but there is no way I was able to keep up with it. It was a 96 and fast as hell. He had the exuast done and I don't know what else.. But there was no way I was touching it.

Before the race sneak up to his car and remove the valves inside the valve stem. You win....

I think being an auto vert is whats going to kill you. With full exhaust, edel intake, CAI, and gears i was running 13.60s-13.70s with a stick. My friends stock 98 Cobra was going 14.0-14.1's. So i used to get him then he got 4.10s X and Catback and was going 13.40s so he was beating me.

Back to you i think if he cant launch well you should be ahead for a while. Have you got your shift points on your auto updated or tweaked at all?

I have not got anything done to my auto,i might get a chip put in because i am hitting the rev limiter.

I know i would be killed with the mods i have now.Well i will be doing h/c when i choose the setup i want.I was just wondering what would it take to beat him.I was thinking about get sprayed but my car is a DD would it be ok to put nos in the car?

    thanks

He's stock? We'll assume he is.

To beat him solidly, assuming he can drive...
    You already have:
    93 ported cobra intake
    93 cobra TB
    Pro-m 75mm
    24lb inj
    180* t-stat
    Mac Longtubes
    mac offroad h-pipe
    mac cold air intake
    Magnaflow Magnapacks mufflers
FRPP 3.73s (4.10s would be MUCH better for your AODE car)

    Now add:
Edge Racing "Street Edge" 3000 RPM stall torque converter
    TransGo Shift Kit
    255lph fuel pump
    Zex nitrous kit
    Nitto drag radials
An Aeromotive fuel pressure regulator wouldn't hurt

That should get your heavy vert going mid-low 13s and put you ahead of the Cobra.

do the spray safely and don't just do a huge shot so you can beat him...or just hurry on with that h/c/i

125 shot should be fine with colder spark plugs, a bigger fuel pump, and an adjustable fuel pressure regulator. You can do this for $700 total.

However, you still won't beat him solidly with JUST a 125 shot. My GT coupe went 13.3 with a stock motor and transmission on a 125 shot with 4.10s, drag radials, exhaust, and weight reduction...with your heavier weight, 3.73s, and street tires you'd probably be more like high 13s.

Plus, the 125 on a stock AODE WILL destroy it eventually.

A 125 shot + a torque converter, shift kit, and tranny cooler will allow you not only to soundly beat the Cobra, it'll preserve the life of your AODE.
