No, it is used only on the mustang. I think it is loosely based on the old Lincoln LS/ Jag S type/ T bird chassis. They are not the same though. What did you want to try to do?
Depending on your age, you may remember this. When the honda crv was popular, car and driver put two engines in the car. As winter approaches, I thought about doing this with a mustang, if there was a front wheel drive based car. Just a thought, it would be great to have a four wheel drive mustang for the winter. Doc
I never saw the C&D article, but I have seen the same thing done to a Cadillac with two Northstars and an Audi TT with two 400 hp 1.8T engines. And the AWD alternative to the Mustang just came out, the Taurus SHO. I think i would go with the new 6.2L SVT Raptor instead though. Would you have tried all the work yourself or try to find someone to do it?
The S197 is very close to the LS platform. There are several cars based on the S197. The modern Avanti, which also shares the interior: avanti motors The Sigma GTE, though it's still in the design phase. The current prototype is using a SN95 interior, but many of the other parts are from S197 Sigma Motorworks developing EV based on Ford Mustang I think there's at least 1 more out there, but can't think of it. Avanti is the one I always remember.
That Avanti is awful looking, the best they could do with the dash was a cheesy looking wood panel? You would think they could be more original with the wheels than SN95 Cobra wheels.
