I took my car out for the first time since I scraped front bumper week or so ago today. I dicided to take the car out to carwash.

While I was there, I figure I'll give my wiper a workout. To those of you don't know me, I do not take my car out on rain. So i never use my wiper. But I run it everytime I wash the car, just to keep it from freezing up on me. Well, my wiper gets used so few and far between, but my washer is even worse. I think last time I used washer wason the way back from car show at the Vallyforge hosted by Vipergts281 3 years ago. i got cought in rain on the way back(last time wiper was used in rain insidently).

Well, anyway, i pushed washer, hear motor going, but nothing. Except little trickle of fluid comeing out from nozzle. Appearently, washer flusid do solidfy if it sits too long, say like 3 years. Infact, I don't think I EVER filled the tank. I'm pretty sure whats in the reservore is what dealer has put in when I bought the car!
now I have to tare out the all the hoses, and tanks to see if I can open it back up. So those of you who don't drive your car much, and not in rain, use your washer once in the while, or else your gonna have more issues with it:mad:

While I had hood open and looking at the tank, I've also noticed that my Yellotop optima's date of purchose was 04/97!
It had powered both of my beloved MR2, my old 99 couger, and now has been powering my Mustang since I bought it back in 2003. So optima has been working issue free for over 10 years!

So those of you thinking about if paying for $$$ for Optima is waste, never mind. get them, and forget about it for 10 years. I think I paid just shy of $200 for mine, and I think I got my money's worth....:nice:

I now have to go figure out how to take hoses and tank out of my car.....:(

Interesting about the washer fluid. Didn't know they solidified. Are you sure it just didnt evaporate and is empty?

As for the optima battery, I agree with you on that one, they're a great bang for the buck.
However, it's not only optima's that last a long time.

I had a 96 explorer that had the exact same factory battery until it was replaced back in 2005. And that was a daily driver also driven through winter.

Yeah I don't know about that washer fluid. My car still has the factory washer fluid in it and it works fine. And my car was stored for a little over 3 years while I was on various different deployments and assignments and the washer fluid is fine.

The fluid didn't solidify. It's probably just out of fluid.

Oh and do not try to take the hoses off!!!!! You will crack your cowl in 50 different places. But if you somehow succeed, please make a tutorial because .. just wow it's difficult!

well, mine is already cracked in 3 places from when I installed FRPP STB.

THere is, however, way you can remove cowl without cracking it(I wish I knew then). Its time consuming tho.

You simply remove both A-piller panel. To do this, you'll have to disassemble A, and B piller interior panel, access the bolts, then you can go ahead and remove the huge outer A-piller panels.

Once its out of the way, cowl is piece of cake to remove.

BTW, I guess what happened was I got some gunk clugged up my washer nozzle. because fluid comes to just before nozzle.
I guess I should start looking for new Cowl(Which I assume comes with new nozzle - meaning $$$)

Well, thats why. While thats extraordenary, battery actually last alot longer when charged all the time. What kills battery is that being bone dead. I forgot what it was, but when new battery is drained to the point where it just clicks, and charged to full after that, it now only have something like 1/2 of capacity then before you kill it(or something like that)
I drive my car less then 1000miles/year. my car sometims goes months without being started. So i say optima is kickass battery

    Yes even you have one.
Thats ofcourse unless you removed it for the weight saving, or using washer as watermethonol injection for your boost to lower detnation point...

The cowl is like 150 bucks which is why I haven't replaced mine yet....

You could try to shoot some compressed air into the little piece where the fluid comes out. Either that or stick a needle in the hole to clear any potential debris. It doesn't come out of either side? The hose might be crimped if not.

Don't do compressed air. I put my blowgun from my compressor on the squirter hose on my Ranger, and I blew the guts out of the squirter. It just sort of dribbled on the windshield like it had the clap after that. Too much psi I guess.
