Knight Rider

The first half was boring and I lost interest and started channel surfing a bit.

I liked the last 5 mins the best, makes you want to see more when they back out of the moving truck like the old days.

And that was the best mustang commercial I've ever seen with the guy dreaming about the red one.

Impressions on Knight Rider

Old school = Moving truck
New school = that was a C-130!!! In Europe!

My favorite Ford commercial was the two hour long one on Sunday night LOL

My Impressions ($0.02, for what it's worth):

:nice: I will most likely watch it if The Wife doesn't trump the DVR timeslot. But there's room for improvement.
  • :notnice: I am annoyed that this generation will think "KR" is "Knight Rider" and not King of the Road
  • :notnice: It was a gigantic Ford commercial. This I get; placement of an entire company's cars goes back to Dukes of Hazzard (ChryCo) and beyond, HOWEVER....
  • :nono: How the hell does a 5,000lb POS Edge SUV keep up with a GT500KR on a windy mountain road?
  • Same guy that did original KR has name on this one. Some of the campiness shows through. The military aspect gives it a touch of A-Team or Mission Impossible.
  • :nice: Excellent special effects, Especially the bullet absorption and KITT-as-concrete-barrier. However, it's obvious that the budget for them cut into the rest of the production budget. Note that the set from the Montecito (another NBC show) was used for Las Vegas
  • :notnice: Editing was done by a beginning high school vo-tech student.
  • :notnice: Overal it felt like a low-budget barely fit for the Sci-Fi channel (fire the editor!). That's probably where it's going if not for the $$$ from Ford and the Hof's involvement.
  • :nice: Nice references to the old KITT's T/A parts in the garage.
  • :rlaugh: Raise your hand if you'd be thrilled to discover the Hof is your father! No? Didn't think so. At least he's playing someone his age. I just hope Garth doesn't return :p
enough from me - REACTION!

I enjoyed it. You could tell it was just a long trailer to the TV series.

I think the Edge probably could keep up in the twisties. I thought that at first. But then I remembered driving an Edge. Even though it's an SUV or a crossover, it's based on a car platform, and maneuvers like a car. There were other cars and lots of twisties, so KITT couldn't really get up to speed.

I think it did have some cheesy feel. But that's just paying tribute to the original.

The effects with KITT were great, though I wish they would've used a real light bar, instead of a special effect for the hood.

Not only did they have parts to the original KITT, in one quick shot, you could see about half the car.

And as stated above, it was a hell of a lot better than all the reality crap on there right now. This is the first thing I've watched on NBC in about 6 months or so.

I believe KITT was holding back in the twisties to keep the SUV from driving too fast and hurting someone. He said something to that effect.

Remember he switched into fast mode right after the chase scene. The double decker wing popped up etc. and they flew off.

I know Ford was wanting to advertise their SUV but if this thing becomes a series, they're going to have to give the bad guys a faster car.

It's just not interesting watching a huge SUV chasing a supercharged mustang.

The movie needed more chase scenes.

Now to reveal the Hollywood spin to the cars in the show..
Here are the cars production used....sorry to say, NONE of them were real "KRs" as Ford and the show have been spinning it.

They had two "hero" GT autos with "Ford Racing" badged Whipple S/Cs. And of course the full KR body and wheel treatment. Both fully rigged for remote drive.

The other two were V6 autos dressed up to their respective cars.

Lastly, the various stock GTs they drove around when "in disguise" were normal GT autos.

The "magic" of Hollywood. ;)

I loved the chase scenes. Don't shoot me (bad pun) but I liked the chase scenes better than the one in Bullitt.
Threesomes, lesbians and Fords, someone already said this, what else could you want?
Hasselhoff got the amount of time he deserved.
I would have bet that Mustang after the casino was vista blue though NBC's answer page said purple. I was hoping I was the only one who entered.
Again, anyone know if those hood pins will work on a regular GT and where to get them?

One vote here for the Bullitt chase scene. I watched Bullitt on DVD to warm up for Knight Rider.

The Mustang sure didn't look like any kind of blue on my TV. It looked more violet than purple.

I only saw it for a second but could have sworn it was vista blue which in the right light does look kind of violet. I also would have thought to minimize costs they would have used a stock color and purple certainly is not stock.

BLASPHEMY I TELL YA!!!

1) Bullitt's chase seen is epic. The best ever filmed. No effects (other than over-dub'd sound (GT40)). No CGI, nada. And how many Chargers of today could lose 2,703 hub caps in one chase?
2) A mini van keeping up with a KR, GT500 or GT? Please.

Oh yeah, and the guy had a bong on his coffee table. Lesbians, threesomes, bongs, Mustangs, a bong, the original KITT, a Cobra replica, and a cameo by the Hoff. :nice:

Not that I know what that'd be used for or what one looks like. Just saying.

The color was blue at first then they cut away for a second and then it came in a light purple. At first I thought it was silver and the Vegas lites were just reflecting off it making it seem blue and purple. I did answer purple and yes I registered all 4 times. :)
