I'm swappin' in '74 pintowagon leaf springs on the CobraII but I've hit a bit of a snag. the rubber sandwich above and below the leaf spring (isolator/insulator/pad)? what the heck does ford call that and does anybody know the part number for it and/or a place to get 'em? Mine are completely shot and I can't even find a real name for 'em. Thanks in advance.
They are called Leaf spring isolators. There main purpose is to cushion the ride (a little) and stop squeaks. I used a jig saw and an old tire to fasion a set for my II.
dangit, wish espo didn't try to hide their axle pads in that goofy blue stripe I ended up gettin' 'em from MustangsUnlimited for 7.95 a pop, right before readin' the new posts. Thanks for the help! Got the pieces cleaned and painted today so I should be able to put 'er back together as soon as my 'leaf spring insulators' get here.
I wish I had known that... I tossed out all the bent rusty brackets and fashioned my own perches and u-bolt plates. Ended up with a decent setup but it looks pretty armature for the amount of work that went into them.
