First of all, better wheels than the V6 wheels, then get dual exhaust. I went for that and a chrome BBK cold air intake, throttle body spacer, diablosport tune, cobra seats, white/blue instrument cluster, painted interior panels red, chrome control switches for windows/locks/hvac, chrome hood support, clear Cobra headlights, clear GT foglights, and clear corner lights. I want to tint the windows, but I am in a cash crunch now and I can't.

The best mods I did for me were the wheels, dual exhaust, and the diablosport tune. That's where I would start. The exhaust looks a whole lot better, sounds better, and together with the tune will give you a little more power. And after all the mods I have done, I still get 30mpg on the highway.

Stock hp for 96-98 V6 is only 150, but the torque is 215 ft-lbs if I remember right. I haven't had my car dyno'd with all the mods, but I'd estimate 175 hp or so. Nothing to set the dragstrip on fire, but better than it was. Your dad's Mach 1 would kill it. My car runs well at 145,000 miles and it gets 30 mpg on the highway, and it has enough power to push me back in the seat a little bit, so that's good enough for me.. for now.

JVC double-DIN head unit, Polk componant sets with 5 1/2"s in the doors and tweeters on the pillars, Polk 5x7s in the rear and a 8" DVC sub in a ported box driven by its own 400w amp in the trunk. Dynamat in the usual places. Adding the seperate tweeters really moved the soundstage up, and the sub adds a lot of punch without being overbearing. I built the system more for quality than bass- I can't stand cars that are bone stock except for the pair of 12s or 15s in the back!

I'd say clean up the interior first before any mods or stereo. Replace the carpet and possibly the seats with some stock leather ones and that will be one nice looking Mustang.

    Here's a backshot of mine...

Did you end up buying that car?
$100 will get you new carpet.add 20 bucks or so if you want it with the factory insulation. As for the seats,I can't tell if it's just the sunlight or what. But those seats look like their filthy.Ahh its the shadowing. And way over sharpened.

Nice to trade in that suburban for a V6 stang.Don't get me wrong, the chevy is nice.But..glug glug glug glug. It's a gas guzzling behemoth.Yah.If your not a lead foot you can get up to 30 mpg highway driving v6 stangs.

Off hand, what state are you located in?
