Okay, I have a 2006 GT with the black and red interior. It is stunning except at night when you open the door and two map lights give it all the light that they can. The bean counter pulled out all of the nice under dash lights, door lights, and glove box lighting which all past Ford cars have had. How can / where can I tap into the lighting system to add some foot well lights? I noticed that there are no longer any door jam switched like the old days so I am stuck. Some 1966 fastback retro back seat lights would look sharp as well.
"Whew!" At first I thought were talking about neon! I'm not electrically oriented, but I would think wiring some lights off a junk car would be an option.
try looking at a van accessory place or most auto part sell light small enough to hide under the dash
I have the lights and wiring but cannot figure out where to tie into the dome light set up. I know that the map / dome lights are controlled by some type of module to contol the threater lighting etc.
Neon is usually associated with the 'rice culture' I think if done right (see: moderation) it can look nice. Put a bar out of sight in the glove box. Rig up a simple switch, and I'm not sure if you can tap into any power near the box though.
right now, i have a LED light on the very bottom of the whole dash, like under the steering wheel, and i tapped into the cigar lighter in the glove compartment to get the power. had to drill a hole to put in the switch though, cant found the wire for the map lights -henry
in the smart junction box, which is behind the passenger kick panel, you will find a gray 26 pin plug, you need pin 25 which is light green\yellow, it is a negative trigger when door is opened.. tks jim
