i currently own a '98 V6 mustang and am looking for a car with better fuel economy and a car ill have to care about less. i go to school 3 hours away from home and winters get pretty salty here in wisconsin. so with that said, here are a few questions...

what kind of fuel economy does a 2.3 get?
what can i expect to pay for a 2.3 5-speed (not mint condition, but not a beat up POS)?
what kind of hp/tq does a 2.3 have?
is there anything i should look out for when shopping around for one?

I get about 20 in the city and 30 on the highway. It's different for everyone; some get as high as 25 in the city where people with problems may get 10-15! Typically, you can expect low 20s. With price, it varies as well. I haven't heard of anyone on here paying more than $1000 in the last year however. Try to get a '91-'93 because they have 105 HP and 115 (or 135  ) TQ. The '89 and down had 88 HP and maybe 100 TQ. Nothing special to look for, but definitely get a 5-speed. The AOD is far slower and is notorious for crapping out on people. If taken care of, these things will run forever.
