He's talking about those sensors that go with it because it needs to pick up a connect with the satellite. I don't know if yours can be left on the outside, because it would get a beating if it was down there...and it might not connect because of the metal from the engine and the hood.

Ohh you think that the metal will distrubt the signaL? my hood is not metal but i know what you mean. I also heard that when you put it on the dash you loose the sat alot. i was thinking of cutting a percise hole in the cowl cover and making the reciever flush, its built to be outside or on your roof? Iskwezm- you have had luck putting them on the dash? how about by the 3rd brake light in the notch?

thanks guys your help is very much appriciated.

I have done at least 15-20 and put them ALL on the dash so they get a clear chot through the glass and none ever had a problem. The only time it should loose the signal is if theres interference or its blocked. The reason I dont put them in the rear is beacuse running the wire to the front to is more work.

I have a pioneer D1 nav in my 05 and the installer put the GPS antenna up under the dash and is not visable from the outside. it seems to work fine.
