looking for a reliable mustang shop in northern new jersey

Run, don't walk from Crazy Horse. His rep is not particularly stellar. If you're near Nutley, see Alfredo Barlotta. Can't remember name of shop but it's off of rt 21 @ Mill St exit (Belleville). Make a rite and follow to school yard on left. Make a left and he's on the right. Does great work and is a nice guy too. Ex Ford tech.

Stay away from Larocca's. Ever since they changed owners they have been nothing short of terrible. I had a monster 408 DSS longblock installed by them and their "dyno specialist" was only able to tune it to 250rwhp after making me wait around for about 6 hours. The guys are clueless and very unprofessional.

I believe that would be Valley Performance. Heard good things about them. But, I use Crazy Horse exclusively and I travel from CT to NJ for his services.

I take my 2000 GT strictly to Valley Performance in Belleville. He does excellent work and is reasonably priced. He's also excellent to deal with. Everyone else I tried before him was too high priced and the quality of work sucked!

Yeah like stated earlier in the Post it is Valley Performance. They do great work and they are great guys. Alfredo and Rob are really good and try to help you. They did my trans and my rear end. It just sucks that they dont have a dyno but they can make up a chip for you however.

Valley Performance

Belleville, NJ 07109

Tel. 973-751-7505

Try Joe Heck Racing in Lakewood,NJ. Joe Amato from Downs and Big Daddy Guthridge are there. They have dyno and any parts you want. I just bought a clucth and trany from Joe. I don't know the phone number but the website is Joe Heck Racing.com

...

I guess its not the closest to N NJ but if you must go to a performance shop i would go with JDM over the others. Although my days of trying to be loyal to any one shop are over becuase I dont think any of them really care about customer loyalty unless you are giving them tens of thousands..

For basic work I have been using local places that people say are trustworthy...clutches and just about everything except tunes.

I might be calling up Andrew Barrell who used to work for Laroccas until they changed hands. I have heard he is good with tunes and mechanics.

anyone know of a reliable northern new jersey shop that can do some tuning to my 2004 mustang gt. any suggestions anyone?

At all cost...PLEASE PLEASE do noyt make the mistake of using crazy horse, i cannot tell you how bad they have butchered my car, use Valley or someone else like big Daddy, Crazy horse will rob you and cheat you and just plain mess you car up...my car looked like I had given it to a bunch of animals in a zoo .....turnover is absolutly terrible as well. :notnice:

Joe Heck Racing DOES NOT have a dyno or service, they sell parts ONLY. Dwayne "Big Daddy" Gutridge has the dyno and does ALL the service and work - - - check it and give Dwayne a call...if you want it done right.

Its making me really happy that all of you guys have such confidence in Valley Performance as I live in Morris County and have had this same dilemma. Yes I dont dispute that Dwayne Big Daddy is the king when it comes to Jersey mustang work and tuning but for a guy that lives in Morris County that might not trust his car driving that far and then needing a ride can be a real problem. When you guys say Valley doesnt have a dyno but they can tune, what exactly do you guys mean by this?

I believe he offers enclosed trailer service like Unique does, don't quote me on that because I'll have to ask to be sure - - - But I have seen cars come and go that way and I don't think they were all "track-only" cars. He does a lot more than just Mustangs now too - - - he's putting a S/C in my CTS this fall.

If these guys are backing Valley Performance and they have that kinda faith in them, give it a shot - - - if it doesn't work out give Dwayne a call (tell'em who sent you)...
