i finally found a place that had a ss catback in stock so i rodered that today. i was 100% set on an offroad h to go with it but then my work got an 01 gt on trade that had a bassani xpipe with a flowmaster catback. and after hearing this i kinda want an x pipe instead. anyone else heard a mac catback with an offroad x?
i do love the deep old school tone of the h but after hearing the x pipe with the chambered mufflers it also sounds pretty deep and throaty.

    opinions welcomed

    thanks
    jeff

trust me. thats the first thing that came to my mind. i grabbed the part number off the bassani and googled it. it wouldnt work on my car. the car was an automatic and they said that one will not work for a 5 speed.

my x-pipe sound sick with my catback. It wight be because it is a 3 incher. gets real agressive the more you get on it. right on the line of sounding loud and good, and being just plain obnoxious. God I can't wait till my SLP LMI get here, hahaha

i have a Mac o/r X for sale. took it off for smog and havent put it back on, i like the musclecar rumble the H gives as opposed to the exotic tone the X gave me.

thomas- with the offroad h and mac catback wen you rev it up then let off the gas does it make like a farting noise or maybe a machine gun noise would be better terminology. thats the one thing i dont like about the aftermarket H. the sound it makes when u rev it then let off the throttle.

well i finally made up my mind after weeks of debating. I ordered a bassani ss offroad x pipe this am from ninosport. I cannot wait for it to get here. I am also waiting for my mac ss catback to come also. I have heard numerous sound clips of chambered mufflers with offroad x and offroad h pipes. I personally found the sound of a chambered muffler with an offroad x to be very mean sounding. Like it makes the hair on your neck stand up. dont get me wrong the sound of the H is definitely music to my ears also. But the thing that stared me away from the H was the sound it makes when you rev it up then let off the gas. Its like a farting noise.
my work got an 01 gt with flowmaster catback with a bassani catted x and OH MAN that thing sounded unbelievable.

ill post sound clips when i get it all installed.

An H pipe would make it sound more like american muscle. And X pipe will make it sound more raspy. I would swap my X pipe out in a second if there was one that fit my headers....

ya its rumbly at idle then at wot it just screams. Makes the hair on the back of your head stand up. Plus it doesnt give you the farting noise when you let off the gas like the offroad H does.
