I am looking at the Mac cold air kit for my 97 cobra and was wondering if it will fit without having to remove my stock strut tower brace. The part # is Mac- 3499. The part is available through this website at the parts page, i think its Pro3?

:Word: I used a Mac CAI on our 96 and ran into a major problem. I don't know if the 97 is the same, but before you buy look up inside your fenderwell. On the 96 there's an electronic box riveted to the apron just rear of the opening for the airbox. The kit comes with an oval filter and, if that box is on your car, it will not fit in any way, shape or form. I had to go out and buy a round cone K&N filter to make it work. The guy at 5.0Resto that I complained to said that he had the same problem on his car and took the kit back.

That said, yes, it fits with the strut tower brace just fine.

I had the Mac CAI and ran into problems with the engine running very rich do to the 90 degree bend before the MAF. 11:1 on the dyno. I guess some people rotate the MAF to fix the problem but I just went to a K&N FIPK and got back to a 12:1 A/F. Just my 2 cents.
