My 41000 mile 96 cobra is stock except C&L MAF, gears and magna flow mufflers. inconsistantly sometimes it will surge when on the throttle(not WOT), below 4000. It will feel like its pulling hard and then fall on its face and pick up again. its inconsistant and i had the same problem with a 90 with a C&L. anyone else have problems with them? i heard alot of people say there junk? any help?

Its not that any meter is better than another, its in the calibration. Also, people dont realise, but whenever you change a MAF, you hould be changing the maf transfer function in your EEC. When they're mis-matched, driveability problems will occur.

ok im having the same problem.. i have a 94 cobra, and i HAD to replace my old MAF since the codes ran and it was malfunctioning... anyways, replaced it with a pro-m 80 and the car accelerates like a beast (compared before), but when i decelerate, if i put the car in neutral or hold down the clutch if revving above 2500k, the car will surge and die... i am stumped on what to do...never had a problem with driveability until the MAF swap. called up andersonmotorsports and they said it was calibrated for 24lbs which is what i have stock... so i do not know where to go from here, tell me how u got the maf custom burned on the dyno and how much did that cost... and where did u do it... i live in miami, fl.... any help would be much appreciated!

The maf itself isnt calibrated on the dyno - just your computer. when you buy an aftermarket MAF, make sure you get the flow sheet data with it. With that, the tuner can enter those variables into your computer. This will make the computer and maf the same. This is called the transfer function. While driving, the computer looks to those tables.
Im sure there are good tuners in Florida - I dont know any off hand though. It costs anywhere from 350-500 bucks
