As the title says.. I just feel like the mach is far advanced and easier to make faster.. It seems like you can make them run 12`s for under one thousand bucks..I just ahve a few questions.
    1) How reliable is the DOCH engine???
    2) What problems should I look out for??
    3) Can I drive it like I stole it like my GT and not worrie about problems with the motor?

    1) at least as reliable as the SOHC, as long as you take care of her
    2) engine tick (TSB), all the rest of the problems assocaited with the 99-04 stangs.
    3) I drive the hell out of mine, the rear end is a little weak, so no 5000rpm dumps of the clutch.

hope this helps in some way

I've had mine for 3 months and haven't had any problems with it. It's gas milage is significantly worse then that GT (despite having just about the same milage posted on their window stickers) but is it.

(posted this in 4.6 talk as well)

    I concur.

I went from a '02 GT (my first stang) to a '03 Mach 1 and never looked back. The GTs are awesome cars but there's just something about sitting behind the wheel and looking over the shaker, man it just feels so awesome like you're really in an old muscle car.

The seats are a ton better, I don't slide around at all like I did on my GT seats they really hold you in. The gauges and trim effects are neat. It has subframes stock, though they're the Ford crap ones, you can tell a difference with the chassis being noticeable stiffer with much less creeks and rattles then my GT had. The front 13 inch Brembo brakes suck the eyeballs outta their sockets when you mash them. The suspension is a bit tighter then GTs for better handling. Finally the DOHC really rips outta the hole even with 3.55s and the midrange pulls a ton harder then the GT.

If you can find the right price, I say go for it. Not to mention at least where I live I barely see any others on the road, unlike '05s which are all over the place now. :flag:

That's odd, my Mach has almost identical MPG as my GT did, my GT had similar bolt-ons and 4.10s vs 3.55s for my mach. Still with same driving styles they were about the same for me.

Thats your foot! Mine has a supercharger and 42lb's. I got better gas mileage on the highway than I ever did with the GT. Of course the more I get on it the more it sucks it!

The mach 1 is and has many advantages over the standard GT.

Better ground to start from, with little money invested you will hit 12's.
Mach 1....those words alone. All the special things that go with the mach, the shaker hood, DOHC motor, 3:55's gears, interior accents, the apperance package.

But if you want to compare modification prices. the 2v market is really starting to open up. Supercharges, heads, ehxuast everything is cheaper then the 4v motors. So that may be something to consider, if your going to make it an all out race car.

But if your looking for a car that gets about the same mpg, comes from the factory with more hp and is a special edition..then the mach 1 is for you. Just pony up the extra doe and step up to the mach. You won't be disapointed.

However...as a caution. Owning a mach 1 will make your head sweal with over confidence and handly start beating the ole ls1's. Ls1's don't like it at all. :p So have fun!
