I was just minding my own business when....ok really, A Vette( last years body style) came flying up behind me on the highway. I let him pass and decided to follow his lead so as to get home quicker. Well that is when Vette boy decided I wanted to race..... :damnit: He slows down, gets in the middle lane, and waves me to get next to him. I decide what the hell. We get even at about 70-75. I am in fourth gear and as soon as we are even I push my pedal all the way to the floor. I shoot off and the Vette is trying to catch me. I wish I could tell you eactly how fast we were going, but I was keeping my eyes on the road. He catches up and passes me. The only thing though, is the Vette is only walking away from me? Now It did beat me, but I took the Vette on the jump and we did it twice. My only guess here is that the Mustang GT has a better rear end gear and the Vette is heavier. When I got home all I could think of is a few mods and that Vette would have been in trouble.

I can tell you that I would rather have a Mustang any day of the week. I rode in a Corvetter for the first time a few months ago. It sets so low to the ground that I thought I wasn't going to be able to get out of it. The Mustang has a far superior ride.
Spank those Corvettes and put the money you save by owning a Mustang into a piggy bank for gas.

The Vette is lighter than your car, and has at least 50 more HP. He probably had an automatic transmission, at the wrong speeds they can suck from a roll.

Are you sure about the vette being lighter? They are supposed to be pretty heavy.

Yea they're only 2 seaters, and are a smaller car. I don't know how much they actually weigh, but I can see it being ligther than yours (depending on options of course). Where in Texas are you at?

In New Braunfels. :D OK, but the vette is made partially of fiber glass and that is actually pretty heavy. They only still use it because of the heritage.

the 2001 vette, not sure if they changed it since then besides the new ones, weighs approx 3212lbs. The 05 GT is 3450lbs. So they are lighter by ~200lbs. They had 350hp so they got us there by 50hp.

    6-Speed Manual Tremec 3650 5-Speed

    Final Drive 3.42:1 3.55:1
    1st Gear Ratio 2.66:1 3.34:1
    2nd Gear Ratio 1.78:1 2.00:1
    3rd Gear Ratio 1.30:1 1.32:1
    4th Gear Ratio 1.00:1 1.00:1
    5th Gear Ratio 0.74:1 .067:1
6th Gear Ratio 0.50:1 Not Available

Gears ratios are the same in 4th but after that he has ya. At first it was just who hit the gas first. They wont just kill the 05 but they will beat it. Woulldnt take to many mods to get up to its lvl tho. Considering the vette was 2x the price Id say we are doing very well. The new vettes tho they are a different story. If anyone knows if my numbers here are incorrect feel free to say so I was just pulling them from two different sites. :D

im a corvette guy, and i like mustangs too, haha

3 things either the guy couldnt drive, or he wasnt pushin it real hard ori t was an auto, lol I dont have a C6, but i have a C4, and i know itll stay with the new GT's. and it has about 100HP/TRQ less than the C6 does. also, the vette wont really pull away from your GT( or mostly any car on the road) until about 100+, then all you can do is try to keep ur eye on it, they like to take off after 100. the 70-100 jump on the cars arent that bad either haha.

IMO its ridiculous to compare a Mustang GT to a Corvette, different class AND type of car.........

The newer vettes will walk a mustang in highway rolls with EXTREME predjudice

ANYTHING can be fast and there is always a cheaper route..........

    try this:

late model econobox owner says "Put the extra 20k into my pocket and I dont care what the 05 Mustang will do to me!!!"

Give the vette some love they are fantastic cars (so is the 05 Mustang just at a different level ;))

Trapped between 2 worlds.. One sits high on a thrown of King Cobra's.. Defeat is something that you have never tasted.. King is the way you view all of your subjects..

Ponder the thought of an 05 Mustang owner, who is challenged by a Vette @ a speed of 75 miles per hour.. His heart knows the race is lost before it has even begun, but his instinct is to uphold the name that is Mustang.. As he takes on the much lighter, agile, and stronger advisary, his instincts are pure.. His fight is just.. In defeat he has graciously accepted the outcome, but still has the courage to tell all he tried to uphold the crown..

What he is actually looking for, is someone like you who has enough bite to take down his foe.. But you slight him.. Slight him and even cuddle up to the vette slightly.. LOL!!

Even though you have a mighty Cobra, you are still bound by the laws of Mustang... With these laws, I convict you to 50 defeats for your willingness to kick a brother when he's down..

50 defeats Romans!! Look for them, they will find you.. At some point Romans, you must come to accept the 2005-06 Mustangs as your brothers, and not a threat to your thrown!! Now leave me!! Its time for my toes to get washed!! :D

I own a C5 Vette and an 05 Mustang GT. The vette is faster...no question... but the Mustang is every bit as fun to drive.

    LOL :rlaugh:

    You have talent!

    Good write up...........

For the record, I love all performance oriented cars. I just "try" to recognize the relative "rankings" in a non-passionate fashion. I would never "kick a brother" on purpose. To me there can be honor in defeat, it's simply a matter of being a good sport (hopefully a gracious winner and loser).
