Hi everyone, I am a newbie in the forum and a newbie to Mustangs, but I bought a 2005 Mustang from a local dealer a few months ago and began sourcing parts to make it a show and Street and Drag Car.

Not knowing anythign about Mustangs, I have consulted some of the best minds I could find to help me piece this car together.

I have "Jack Nasty" the firm that builds the BF Goodrich Websites completing my progress site hopefully this week.

I would love to hear some feedback on this build from the folks in the know.

Here is a list of most of the parts ordered for the car to date:

Thanks Mike, yeah it may take forever ... I originally gave them until May 24th to complete it but they tell me that they can not make the deadline now as the Paint shop wants the car for 5 weeks since it is a full color change and 8 coats of clear are gonna take some time.

I wanted to take it to the Mustang Show in Moncton NB or to the opening Drag Race Weekend in Charlottetown PEI that weekend but it looks like those are out of the question.

This is one of those projects that started off as a $30K project and then got silly.

    Parts: $90K +/- $5K CDN
Paint: $12K-$15K CDN quote is expected today
Labour: Original Quote was $5K but then I added the stroker kit, all the BMR Suspension and the Interior, so it may end up about twice that.

I know the guys at Steeda Canada are pissing me off, I ordered their stuff about 8 weeks ago and still nothing shipped.

They are fitting the Body Kit and pulling the motor right now, and will put the stroker kit in and Build the tranny while they wait.

Website is or will be mustangprogress.com

If the start of this project is any indication of how smooth this build will go, then i am not going to have any hair left by the end of it.

The Body Shop, Engine Builders and Performance shop are all jockeying to control the build.

This should be an entertaining few months.

I hope it is all worth it in the end.

Well, forget the House of Kolor Paint job for now.

They are telling me 10-12 weeks for paint and i want to drive it this summer, so i am just color matching the body kit and and will do the complete change througout next winter.

That is one helluva chunk'o'change!
Wish I could afford to be THAT silly!

What do you do for a living?.. and are you hiring? :D

Did they give you any estimates on what kinda power you'll be getting with that stroker kit?

I think for now I'll just live vicariously through you and your pocket-book! :hail2:

It ain't like that ... I have wanted a real street and show rod my entire life. :)

I am getting all kings of numbers from 700 HP - 1000 HP thrown at me for everything including the Paxton SC and ProCharge Incooler.

Comp Cams is shipping my custom grind tomorrow. Wooo hoo, that is the last part we were waiting on for the engine.

As much as I love Mustangs, for that kind of money I would be driving a new Z06. You will only see cents on the dollar when you decide to sell it.

 And when my Mustang blows by that $100K CDN Vette like it was standing still, would you still see the value in spending $100K ? :p

Seriously though, it is all about preference and in your case, justification of your purchase, as a Market Maker in the Stock Market, I understand about investing.

I am not buying an investment here, I am buying a serious toy. I am not looking for a babe magnet car to attract the girlys, I am building a Pro Street Racer and Show Car.

If it wins shows and races, it will more than pay for itself, if it does not, then I never really calculated that into the purchase anyway.

So, all three Mustangs in Moncton are in a show? That corner of the world is just a tad off the beaten path. I thought the locals went down to St. John to race the tide up the beach.

For starters, a stroker modular motor is going to have reliability issues (try a "short" life span), you should have gone with a big bore kit.

For the rest, take care and perhaps you can school some of these kids around here at Stangnet with all those installs. Otherwise, this is just a "look at me" post in my opinion and a certain mod would say the same.

You listed that you purchased a valve body for this automatic, I wasnt even aware that it could be moded, the tranny is fully electronically driven by solenoids. Also, you listed your Torque Converter incorrectly, 800 stall... dont you mean something more along the lines of 3000?

First, let me tell you that I am a newb to all this so the parts list not only may change but has changed on almost a daily basis.

I am no longer sure that the stroker kit was purchased as i got a call yesterday to tell me that the pistons showed up on Friday and the connecting rods showed up yesterday morning. Wiess Pistons and Eagle Connecting Rods ?

I was also informed that Comp Cams is doing a custom grind cam and that it should be here by the end of the week.

He is no longer doing the heads himself either as it costs just as much to order a new set from Ronaele or Shawn Hyland Motor Sports.

As for the torque convertor, no, that I am sure it is a 800 stall TCI Street Fighter and I questioned it as well thinking that they meant a 2800 stall and they spent about an hour explaining to me why which I left still not understanding :) but the guy doing the the drivetrain is definitely the best around this area and his walls of trophies speak for themself, so I figured who the hell am i to question it.

He has a plan and I have given him free reign to implement that plan.

Lastly, yes, there was an issue that came up last week and I believe it may have been resolved by ordering an entire new transmission.

I will give them a call this morning and ask these questions, then let you know as it is only 6:30 am here.

alright... why would TCI make you a torque converter that decreases performance? Stock stall is 1800-2000 and an increase to 3000 is pretty much standard for higher performance street/strip applications.

You stated that you still didnt understand the conversation by its end so you should try to get an answer that makes some sense.

There is no way TCI would make you an 800 stall converter, "800 rpm looser" than the stock unit maybe but not "800 stall". You dont make peak torque right off idle, you dont own a diesel engine do you...

    :stupid:

That really does not justify any further of a response.
