Welcome to turdville with the stock 2.3NA. I pity those with the 5spd like myself and feel down right disturbed for you A4LD users :(

OK. I know I'm a bit over hyped about my recent discovery so I will only be brief. I know everyone bashes the A4LD tranny, and I'm not a huge fan of it either, but I gutted my cataylic converter and got rid of the sluggishness I felt for the last month.

If interested check out "Gutting My Cat Got My Power Back" thread. Like I said I'm a bit over hyped cause it WAS the solution to my problem. This morning I took the highway to work instead of the back roads and I passed a car uphill at about 145kmph . Thats good for a 2.3 N/A. :D
Last week I couldn't get passed 70kmph on the highway. So it made a huge difference.

I don't think that you can change the timing on the DIS 2.3's. You'd need a new chip for that.

I can change the timing on my DIS 2.3L it goes from slow to stop fairly regularly.

If you want some quick cheap speed from a 2.3L N/A run from the garage to the house :owned:

My DIS ranger had the timing pill on the firewall for EEC timing advance. Just a thought, check if the pill is still in.

I got my 90 Notch (A4LD) cheap for a turbo swap.
It was sluggish till I noticed why I got it so cheap.
The pill was missing from down by the distributor.
    Plugged one in and zoomzoomzoom!
But it's getting more zoom soon.
