I just did mine and used Royal Purple Synchromax. Seems like it got rid of some of the whine, shifts smoother too.

Another good choice is GM's Syncromesh....SHSSS don't tell anyb ody you have GM fluid in your tranny. But all serious i know alot of people that really like it and use it in there stangs. and it won't cost a ton like Royal Purple.

any ideas for an automatic? I'm probably gonna flush my system cuz i've got a small radiator leak and the tranny fluids mixing with the coolant. Just wondering if the same stuff (royal purple) or something else would be good.

I use Amsoil Automatic Transmission Fluid. Very good product. One of the best in the industry.

what is the cost on the royal purple? Since this change is not too often does price matter?

The quart bottle of the Syncrhomax is about $8. How many quarts you need, that's a different question! Price shouldn't be too big of a deal since you don't have to change the fluid that often.

I used Mobil 1 Synthetic when I changed mine last week. Shifts a lot smoother and makes no noise! Except for the TOB (piece of ****) :)

    Edited:

Didn't know I was in the sixer forums lol. Well, I used Mobil 1 on my 98 GT FWIW .......

If I'm not mistaken, Ford suggests ATF for T-45's. Thats what I've been putting in my tranny.
