I went to the track for the 2nd time this wednesday. The best 60ft time I could get was 2.38. But I had a rear shock leaking fluid(will be getting replaced this week) Could that have caused my bad 60ft times? My current mods are JLT Intake w/ Brenspeed 93 tune, flowmasters, and BMR LCAs. Best run was 9.17seconds @ 80MPH (1/8th mile track) I had the tire pressure at 28psi. Should I go lower on stock tires? I launched around 2000 RPMS and powershifted between 6000 and 6500 rpms. Is that okay or too high? I was getting alot of tire spin on my launches. Could that be because of the leaking shock too? Thanks
I'm no mechanic, but I don't think a leaking shock will cause that much traction and time to disappear. If it has leaked enough fluid, I can see it hurting your launch if it causes excessive rear squat. Were the weather conditions hot and humid? Track prep not ideal? To put your time in perspective, my '00 5 speed GT with Flows and Eibach sportlines ran a 9.14@77.5.
It was about 82 degrees and humid. I think the shock was causing my car to "squat" more to the corner that the bad shock was on. But what's the lowest tire pressure I can deflat my stock tires to? And with the Brenspeed tuning, at what RPM should I shift at?
I don't know about the minimum tire pressure, but I would guess 26? With my Brenspeed tune, I set the shift points at 6800 RPM. Next time I go to the track, I'm going to experiment with slightly lower shift points...6300-6500.
