Dont you just hate it when a so called mechanic says something about your car but has no idea what he is talking about. Well today my neighbor today came over cuz I was working on my dads 68 fastback. And says that my engine is blown cuz he hears a misfire. I hate this neighbor cuz hes one of those 1 upper guys. Hes like in his late 50's early 60's. Back when I had my gtp he saw me putting on a new ported and polished supercharger and came over to say that a v6 will never be fast. At the time he had an old v8 car I cant recall whet he had. So i quickly shut him by handing him his ass!!! He went straight home and never mentioned it again. Well today when he came over he said that my engine was blown cuz of the way it idled. And im like what?? So you know how you imitate the lobe sound on cammed cars. Thats exactly what he did!!!! I immediatly started laughing!!!! He was like what!!?? I just told him he was the greatest mechanic for helping fix my car and walked inside laughing my ass of!!!! When I dont like someone I make it clear. But yet this guys likes getting owned!!! I have even told him straight up that I dont like him. but yet he thinks hes gonna change by helping fix my idle!! I was laughing but at the same time I was pissed!! I hate the one upper guys!!!
Oh yeah, he also hates it when we buy something he cant afford. Like a while back we bought some 4 wheelers bikes. He immediatly called the cops when we went around the block. We know it was him cuz were not the only neighbors that dont like him.
Being in the auto repair business, I have to hear crap like that every day. amnit: Install some fishing line between your properties so next time he comes over he trips and falls flat on his know it all face.
Well I can tell a better story then yours. Not really I just wanted to try and one up you but I got nothing. Though there is this guy that keeps talking to me about how I should keep my car naturally asperated now but I think he just likes saying the work asperated cause that is all I ever hear.
Try not to hold grudges..it's not good for anybody..BUT yes I hear ya. I had one friend when I would tell him about my car cuz I was excited , he would tell me about his friends stupid "1200 HP" 4 cylinder. Another guy I know..he is a car guy so I figured he would be impressed wit hthe work I have done on my car..what does he do? immediately pulls out an (old) pic of a 39 chevy or something that he says runs 9's. He forgets that 10 years ago he told me he does that to people that want to show him their cars...
Its messed up. I was just trying to make it start. Its all original. Which means everything is like 30 years old. Plus this car has been in the AZ heat for like 15 yars. Ill post pics if you really want
I always hear that crap... I remember one time there was a guy I used to work with (this was at like 2 in the morning) who asked why I bought a v8. He was trying to explain how inefficient the drivetrain is compared to FWD (I had a good laugh at this....it's true, but at the same time it's not). I told him to hop in the car and go for a ride. When we got back I finished up with a nice 'lil 360........changed his outlook a bit ;P
I work in the automotive trade and when I go to parts stores,shows, hang outs where ever I hear guys like that all the time..I keep quiet and dont say a word. I know I usually know more than they know about cars. I know I put more hours in working in/on cars. I understand how a car as in awhole works. I figure I dont prove anything to thise guys buy proving them wrong. Just let em talk and smile.
It is fun changing peoples outlooks on things. all it takes is a ride in a mustang to change someones mind, or make a girl wet.(if a girl reads this sorry... maybe)
