Hi All, been enjoying many cool threads here, but have not found one Im really looking for.

I am planning on dropping in a the new Ford Racing 5.0 (6007 XE3M) Crate, using a late '80 AOD from a Lincoln.

Looking for detailes on the conversion with part numbetrs & where to get parts if possible.

Couple Q's to start:

• Mechanical Fuel pump - I prefer that, anyone know if this 5.0 has the eccentric? Or, where I can get one if not.

I Went to Sanderson fords Performance department today, and after being directed to the "Performance" specialist, I asked him a series of questions about the 5.0 crates & he proceeded to look it up in the Performance Parts catalog & read it to me... I asked for a copy of the catalog & went home... what a wate of time!!!

• Serpentine or Vbelt. I would prefer Serp IF I can keep Aly, AC Comp, PS pump is same location (Alt is mid/low, AC Comp is high on drivers side, PS pump underneith). I have lloked & found some that are close, but require two belts & a std water pump. If I have to change the water pumo (from Rev to std, then I would just keep my Vbelt setup.

• Are motor mopunts the same (I have a1968 302 in there now with stock mounts)

• Steel/Brass gear replacement on my Unilite 8582 dist. Heard some talk about the shaft being to short/long for the 5.0 - anyone know?

• What do I need to know about connecting the AOD? Torq Conv preferences?

• Planning on a B&M Mega Shifter - any pro-cons?

Any other help much appriciated.

1) The 5.0 crate motors use a 94-01 Explorer/SN95 timing cover that cant be set up for either a dipstick or fuel pump. You need either a foxbody (rev. WP) or vintage timing cover. Install the mech eccentirc as well.

2) Do 5.0 serp with the 5.0 reverse WP if your doing AC & PS and use a 69+ radiator to get the in/out in the right places.

3) motor mounts same

4) You can use brass, but they wear out fast. You MUST at least use steel.

5) 5.0/AOD is a factory setup.

Use the vintage pan, pan gasket, and dipstick, plug 5.0 dipstck hole with 1/8" freeze plug.
