Hello, I am new here and just bought the car I have been craving since I was 5 years old, 32 years in the waiting. I finally got my 69 vert. And is in great shape, but has original radio that doesnt work, even if it did, I would look to upgrade. My question is this, I am afraid to have local shop take dash apart and install a new stereo, any suggestions as to where I can have it mounted? I thought about taking the glove box insert out and mounting it inside. Also, is it safe to have speakers replaced, should I worry about them screwing up my interior. I know you all will think Im nuts to go to Best Buy for this, but dont have the $ for stereo specialist shop do the install. And they have done greta work in the past for me, just not on a 40 year old car. Thanks

I would never mount a radio in the glove box. To me its cheesy and its not safe, because you have to read across the car to mess with it.

I would find a way to mount it in the original location. I tried to look at the link JonK provided to MU, but their site is undergoing maintenance. I like the idea that he has though.
