How easy is it to swap newer Mustang Seats into the II? I'm talking about the fronts. I'd like to get a set of like 94-99 front seats and I'm wondering if anyone has done it. I'd settle for 87-93 seats if I had to but they are a little harder to find.
you can use t-bird seats as well. I have seen 5.0 seats used. I just got around to swapping my rails over to escort gt seats. I had to drill and tap one of the seat mount holes. The biggest issue is the seat back adjustment lever and cover. Some seats are too wide with the cover installed. The escort seats, i had to remove the outer seatbelt guide to fit.
I don't know if anyone else knows this, but Corbeau makes seat brackets for their seats to be used in 74-78 Mustangs.
I made the swap. It's nice to have reclining seates. They sit a bit further forward though, and being a bigg goon, that''s a problem. I'll probably take them outthis winter and come up with some sort of mod.
I have 85 Escort GT seats w/ II rails [transposed configuration right on left] etc... to allow for clearance of the seatbelt guide. ps its funny having to explain to people how to operate my car with seat adjustment on the inside. The seats are also larger and place you and your pass up close and personal with the dash.
Has anyone ever seen what the leather seats look like in a II? I'd imagine those are a bit expensive.
I got a pair of Recaro's out of an older Rabbit GTI. Have'nt attempted to install them yet, can't find my way through the interior of the II right now. Don't know if they will match up to the rails of the II, but when I get to that point if they at least sit, and fit well in the car then I'll work on some rails.
I have seen LS recaros (I believe) installed on stock II seat rails before. It was quite a while ago...
