O.K waiting on my tax return to come in so I get can a new tranny since my less then a year old rebuilt T-crap is gringing when shifting into 3rd to fast. I'm doing eveything new cause I don't want to do this again anytime soon. New clutch, tranny, cable, FWA/Quadrant (Fiore), U joints (spicer) for the aluminum d/s sitting in my storage room. Now the question is do I go with a G-Force tranny or Astro performace version of the g-force tranny called the A-Five tranny. Has anybody heard/seen/read of anybody using the astro tranny? I've talked to a stangnet member running the g-force and loves it so I'm leaning towards that. The g-force tranny will be come from Pro Motion along with which ever clutch they recomend. Unless I can find another distrubitor for the g-force tranny with better prices. Give your .02 folks and I'm not considering a tremec at all. Since my home owners associations really doesn't allow for a car to be heavely worked on and lack of time on my part I can afford to have a shop put it in so thats what's going to happen as far as install.

This t-5 has been rebuilt twice and this stock bolt on 5.0 keeps killing it. I'm done with it. Also instead of throwing go fast parts and hoping a stock tranny can take it, I'm builing the drivetrain to take what ever plans I decide which pretty much means in a couple years a KB will be under the hood. By Jan/Feb my heads/cam will be in and dyno tuned.

All though my trans is in excellent condition at the moment I dont see it lasting to long with my new combo. I have been looking into trannies myself over the past few weeks and am with out any doubts going with a g-force set up in the early summer. Pro motion will be the supplier.

Opal thats who I'm pretty much going for but I know Astro has a good reputation as not selling junk. I've sent Pro Motion an email on a price for a g-force that can hold up to 450fwhp/fwtq and matching clutch. In about 2 months this should be in and running.

wytstang....i see you are smarter than me. i purchased a used 32k t5 for a reasonable price but i am not 100% happy ( as you know bc you have posted in my thread ). i was trying to save $$$ but when you buy a new one that pretty much eliminates the problems of buying 2nd hand.

what kind of dough are you wanting to spend? i know u wanted to steer away from tremec but they make that super duty t5. No experience with it but it would be nice for the simple fact of no cross member modification, d/s mod or anything else ( supposedly ). i spoke with a tremec rep at bowlin green this past fall and he quoted me a price cheaper than the catalog shipped. i will have to check ( i have it written down somewhere ) but i was thinking something like $1250ish shipped?

ive never quoted a g force tranny so im not sure what they retail for. they may be alot cheaper that the super duty. whats the tq rating on them?

    - i was also curious about astro performance...

Danny, though neither here nor there, there's an article about Astro rebuilding a trans to A5 specs in this month's MMFF IIRC.

    Good luck.

Tranny alone $2500-$3,000 and with these there is no moding either just R&R the tranny and your done. $1250 shipped seems mighty cheap but what can they hold? Do they even offer a 94/95 specific t5? A g-force has many options for strenghten it up, the one with all the bells and whistle can hold 650hp and 550tq. It's going to run you just over 2500, but if you can swap it out yourself you can have a strong tranny in a weekend.

HISSIN50 I'll go pick that up and see what it says. But I really don't put to much into mag articles.

i wondered the exact same thing. because in summit, they advertise the super duty for 87-93 cars. i asked the tremec guy about a 94/95 specific and he said yes. but the more i think about that, the more i doubt it ( now that u pointed that out ). i have a gut feeling that the d/s length wouldnt come out right. dont fox bodies have a shorter or longer input shaft?

for the power the SDT5 holds.....nowhere near what that g force will. the SD isnt as stout as i thought....330 lb ft capacity  . even if u can get one for a 94/95, summit only shows 87-93.

with all that said, do not listen or take advice from me lol :(

When my t5 goes I will be ordering either a Astro super alloy setup or going with a G-force setup. Leaning more at Astro really, I have heard good things about both and all I really am looking at ordering is the parts.

They did a build (astro IIRC might have been G-force though) in a 5.0 mag several months ago too. I dont really think either company will fail you, I have heard of just a few issues with both and both got good help from the company to fix the proplem.

Between reading up on assem. and diss-assem. and having a VERY good master ford tech in the wifes family for any questions/tips I dont see any reason why I can save the money for a pre built unit and spring for some extras (specific 94-95 hardend shaft, main shaft rein. plate, better throwout bearing sleave). They do look to be the most retarded easy trans to figure out.

I have seen the super alloy, but what is the diff. from that and the A5 or is it the same thing (A5 being the part number code)?

    From Astro on corral:
The Super T-5 and G-Force T-5 are not the same. The Super T-5 Gear Kit has "Larger" Gear Teeth, along with having a Performance 9310 Alloy Steel 1st Gear. The G-Force does have larger teeth than Factory Gears, but not as Large as the Super T-5. G-Force also uses a similar 1st gear as the 2.95 "Z" World Class uses. Ours is completely different.
I'm actually staring to steer towards Astro's since I've heard nothing back from Pro Motion.
