OBD2 Protocol

Can flashing a tune mess up the CAN protocol? Or did my code reader die? I flashed a new emissions tune and then hooked up my OBD2 reader the next day to check the emissions monitors and see when and if they go ready... but now the scanner cannot detect the protocol. It worked before.

Maybe I'll just flash the old tune back in and check if the scanner works with that tune. PITA

Ok, it was the tune. My X3 can connect and it pulled 18 DTC's. One DTC was for Canbus open. One was for O2 heater circuit. Flashed back to the old tune and all codes disappeared and scanner started connecting again.

The new tune was from a very reputable tuner as well. Everyone has a bad day once in awhile, I guess. Notified him and he is correcting it.
