my 00 GT is now making a squishy-creaky kind of sound when i mash the brake pedal ( stopped and moving ). sort of fluidy sounding. brake fluid is full and car still seems to stop fine. seemed to start kind of all of a sudden. it sounds like its coming from around the brake pedal itself but im not totally sure. i done a visual inspection under the dash. everything looked like its suppose to but then again, not really sure what im looking for

any help will be greatly appreciated

    thanks

If it's anything like my mercury was, where the pedal pivots I added some grease/lube to it, but it could be a number of things. Take a pic of it to get a better idea of damage and such.

i thought the same as you. the pivot point appears to have grease on it. theres a rubber accordion boot that attaches from the pedal mechanism to the floorboard...it sounds like it might be coming from there?

ill try and get a pic of that would help

Hop under there with some WD40 or Liquid wrench and spray every pivot point or contact point you see. If the noise stops you know what the problem is. I'm also wondering if your booster could be leaking vaccum back past the rear plunger (is that what it's called?). As you mash the brake pedal the sound could be air rushing into the booster past a rubber seal or bladder.

if its not a pivot point issue, is this a driving danger? also, any guestimations on how expensive to fix this problem?

note: drove the car this morning and it did not make the noise.

    thank u

dunno man. when it makes the noise again, pull over to a parking lot and with the car running, get under the dash and push the pedal in with your hand. And try to pinpoint where the noise is coming from.

Does it do it with the car off (to try and remove the vacuum assist from the scenario)? You might have to hit the brakes a few times to deplete the vac in the system.

Obviously just do this in the driveway (or someplace safe) and be careful since you will not have vacuum assist and would have to really lean on the pedal to make the car stop if it starts rolling.

Really when it comes to anything to do with brakes it's always dangerous if something isn't working right or making odd noises. Everything can break on your car, but the brakes are the most important part, next to the powertrain of course.

when i heard the noise yesterday (while driving), it would still do it with the car off and depressing the brake pedal. however, today i drove the car all day and not one time did it make the noise
