Hey guys. My friend has a 96 Mustang GT 5spd. His odometer stopped working a few months ago, but the speedo still works. As far as I know they are interelated. Because the speedo works, I am pretty sure the gear in the tranny is fine. He took it to a shop, and they said that it was a gear in the clsuter, and wanted 600.00 to install and calibrate a new cluster. I told him we'd deal with it. Now I assume that I will have to replace the cluster, so I have two questions: 1) how hard is it to remove a cluster and put another in it's place, and 2) How do I recalibrate the mileage on the new cluster to match his mileage? I'll probably pull the cluster from a car at the junkyard, and install it myself. I know on some cars you can rig a drill to roll the numbers over. Any help on this would be awesome, because I want to save my friend some money so he can get go-fast parts.
