When I started my 65 Fastback project 17 months ago I pulled the then barely running 289 and set it aside in the garage. It's been sitting there until today when I tore it apart to see if I could use it in my 65 coupe.
The good news: The cylinders are std. bore and the bearings are all std. size. This appears to be an all original 289. It even has Ford main and rod bearings.
The bad news: cylinder #3 has a few oz. of oil in it and the whole combustion chamber is coated with oil. What is the likely cause of this?
Thanks,
Brad
