my oil pan has busted threads on the drain hole that the previous owner repaired with liberal RTV. factor in dents + a bent rail and i need a new pan. so will this pan work with a '87 block in a '66 (God only knows what timing cover):

OIL PAN 260 289 289 Hi Po 302 w/ Plug no Gasket 1964-1973 - CJ Pony Parts, Inc.

hope so because i ordered it already. also should i use cork or rubber gaskets with synthetic oil???

Gaskets - get the one piece gasket that Felpro sells. $50 but well worth it. Don't need any sealant except at the corners. Has inserts in the bolt holes so you cannot overtighten it. And it is reusable if you have to drop the pan again.
