I noticed that the cheap paint job the previous owner did on my ii is beginnnin to wear off. i suggested a new paint job to my dad and he smiled and walked away ( my bday is in july! ). anyone have any suggestions on paint colors ? I'd like to see pics of your mustangs so i can get a feel of what some paint jobs will look like :)

The Cobra is being painted, within the month, and from the guys at the body shop, they're painting it flat black and then a purple tint will be added, they said that it will really show off the lines of the car. It's also good to have friends that work in a shop, I'll be getting it done for $600. Not sure yet if i want stripes, or what color would look good.

A good way to find paint colors is to look at new cars and see which ones you like. And you can see how the whole car looks in the sun and shade, and not at a tiny sample.

Thats the way I decided. My Ford is painted a Dodge blue.

:nice: Heres my scheme and it should be Extremely cool and Custom.

1978 White with gold pearl, with Gold stripes from the Black Cobras. The paint looks OEM white until you walk past and then you get just a hint of gold as the sun hits it. My car also is original white interior with light tan/gold carpet. The paint is going on first then the stripes "painted on" then wet sanded to smooth the stripes in (no ridges at the color change) Then its getting several coats of clear over Stripes and Pearl. of course Ive pulled the engine and done the bay also. Cant wait till it's done < 3 weeks now....

Second that. I just saw an old Beetle that was white with an extremely light pink pearl in it, an it looked amazing. I can't wait to see a II with the same idea (but without the sissy pink)

I have a cranberry interior on my ghia. any suggestions on what I can paint the her? I was thinking a charcoal grey or maybe maroon ( or something close to it ) with charcoal grey accents somewhere. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Neighbor, ;) (Utah) I had a 74 with that interior. I did 2 paint jobs on it a dark grey as you suggested, then it was in an accident so I copied the "Starman" mustang both looked very nice. There are pics of both at http://www.xmission.com/~mstng2 go to the photo gallery. Hope it helps your decision.

I haven't decided on my color yet. I am thinking of a red/orange one that seems to change color in different light with silver to white stripes.
