I've ordered a 06 Torch Red GT Convertible and I'm thinking about painting the rear view mirrors to match the body. Can anyone photoshop a picture so I can see what it looks like.

I would, but computers aren't one of my strengths.

Personally I don't think you would like it. The trim around the window is black and there would be black separating the red mirrors and body color.
Also, you might be surprised what a good body shop would charge you to do this.
Years ago I had a new 1994 Mustang GT and painted the mirrors to match. I personally wouldn't do it again. The body guy scratched my door panel removing it to get at the mirrors. A new panel was well over $400.

actually several people have already done this and in my opinion it looks way better than the flat black mirrors... look around for show car pics and you'll see. also i think steeda sells the covers so you can paint them and put'em on

I'm with turrizt on this one. I can't believe that it's not factory standard.

In the UK & Europe a new car without color keyed door mirrors is deemed a poverty spec car! It's on my list of things to do - though I may leave the triangular section black & paint the rest.

If you go ahead & have it done make sure the body shop puts a plasticizer (sp?) into the paint mix or it will simply fall off after a few months.

The black mirrors are pretty lame, but what about the fact that they don't move. Even a Honda Civic has retractable mirrors.

Are there any after mkt mirrors that are paintable and retractable?

I don't know about painting the mirrors... those mirrors look so big I think they came from a 70's truck! At least in flat black they are not as prominent... If you paint them body color (especially red!) they will stand out like Malcom X at a Merle Haggard concert!

Good point general. Let's see some pix of painted mirrors-I'm sure there are some stangnet posters who have already done this.

Photoshopped mirror.. don't comment on my mad skillz

I went ahead and found a picture of a red convertible and colored the mirror. It isn't exactly right since the mirror is matte and I assume if you painted it that you would do a gloss finish but at least it is something.

I had mine painted due to the fact that I really did not like the black ones.
