the writer of this review states he plugged in his ipod. Does anyone know where or how to plug in an ipod to an s197? http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/?p=1981
If it is a 2007, there's a plug in the console. You will need a cord, I got mine from Radio Shack. Plug one end into the headphone jack on the ipod and the other into the input jack. You will need to adjust volume on both the ipod and the stereo. The 2005 and 2006 do not have the jacks.
tell us what year your car is, for 95 and 96 there are some solutions depending on what you want to do; i have an 05 and have just installed the newly released pie frd04/s ipod that lets you control the ipod through the shaker and so far it is working good; i had the peripheral but it was causing problems with the ecm and peripheral was taking them back for cash so i took advantage of it; pie also has an adapter that you can plug anything into for less money but you will not control it with the radio; if you are interested in any of these just respond and we will help.l
I am going to keep the Shaker and install the Advanced Triptunes which is supposed to control the ipod from the head unit, show playlists, etc. and keep the ipod charged. The display on the Alpine is much better, but I think I am going to stay factory. My Alpine, satelitte tuner and ipod connection will likely end up in my daughter's Fusion.
I've got the new PIE kit too and have had no problems so far... it was easy to install and the iPod is controlled by the radio. LB
no; if you have satellite radio you cannot use any device to control an ipod through your head unit - it is one or the other as they both use the same plug; i got mine thru discount car stereo.
Do you know if that is true of Ford's latest device, Advanced Trip Tunes? It is not the same as Triptunes which is an fm modulator.
Fordaccessories.com lists it. My Ford dealer has one on order for me at cost. He knows nothing about it. And I have been able to find out very little. I guess when I get it I will find out if my satellite will still work. Would be kind of dumb of Ford to not permit the satellite to work too. But then again I have seen some dumb things before.
I can find out nothing about Advanced Triptunes. My dealer knows nothing. The parts guy says he has not tech support to call. I was given a Ford number. They said I will have to submit a request for information and that it will take three to five business days for an answer. They also said there was no tech number to call. Gee, I should have gone aftermarket and forgotten about it.
