As some of you may know Ive been chasing a problem w/ the Cobra since mid May. Coil, wires, spark plugs, TPS, TFI Module, Distributor was all ruled out over time. What it came down to was the Abaco DBX Digital Mass Air Meter...it went bad. Friend came over tonight w/ his C&L meter for a fox that he used to have, we Jerry rigged it up and the car started ran great and no longer breaks up at 4,000 RPMS. I am now ordering a PMAS meter and calling DBX to ask why their meter went bad. I had it a year in June

Glad you got it figured out, is there any sort of warranty on mass air meters?

That's what I want to find out. It does not say anything about it on the site but I'll get more info on it when I call them tomorrow. Im not sure what did it in, maybe the engine bay heat, maybe vibration who knows but from what I was reading they are very well build meters. Im not sure if they are having a problem w/ them going bad or if I just drew the short straw.

They want me to send it in. It has a 1 yr warranty. I bought it on 6-20-08. The problem started on May 16th but I did not discover that it was the actual problem until yesterday so I dont know how the warranty aspect is going to play out. On paper it was 25 days after the 1 yr warranty was up but the problem started 35 days before the 1 yr was up.

Here is the jerry rig job until the PMAS meter comes in. The couplers on the DBX meter were to big to fit the C&L Meter and the old CAI set up I had which used the black hose you see (there's another piece) was for a 4 bolt flange Lighting meter so that wont work either so this is as good as it will get until the new meter comes. Should either be here tomrrow or monday. As you can see there is no filter on it so I have not really driven it much just a few miles up the road and to get gas just to be sure its going to run ok. Despite the fact it has a #42lb sample tube and #36LB Injectors it runs quite well.

You should try swapping that 600 out for a liter bike! 160 hp in a 375 lb package is a good time! Just sold my '01 GSXR 1K cause Ive had too many close calls. Have a kid on the way and know that Im not mature enough to keep the front tire down all the time... But anyway, glad to hear you at least have a chance with a warranty on the meter. Being an electrical item, I wasnt sure it would really be warranted at all.

You know, even though I am loyal to the blue oval, Ive never had any loyalty to sportbike manufacturers. Ive rocked two Ninjas, the '01 Gixxer, and now I got old and picked up a little Harley Sportster 1200C. My cousin has an '07 CBR 1000 and loves it. Shouldnt have sold the gixxer, but I know I would hurt myself eventually. Now I just putz around on the sporty. Talk about a thread hijack, my bad. Let us know how the warranty claim works out.

I like all sport bikes but the CBR fits me the best. When it coems to the Mustang Id never own a bowtie or anything else.
