I know the valve covers on the 94-95 5.0 mustangs are taller than the fox bodies. How can I tell if the valve covers are really from a 94-95 mustang 5.0?

They're stamped steel as opposed to other styles which include cast aluminum. Cobras have "Cobra" stamped into the top, GT covers just have a line. However, if you're looking for them to clear roller rockers, they may not. I have Ford Motorsport 1.7:1 roller rockers and had to hammer the stamped line out of the top of the valve cover.

    Truth be made known :)

    That statement is reversed

The Fox body covers provide more room than 94-95 vc's ;)

I run em on my little 95GT to clear my Scorpion stud mount rockers :nice:

The best way to identify the 94-95 covers (besides the material stated above) is that the oil filler tube is pushed way forward on the bank one cover to clear the bend in the intake manifold. I can also confirm Grady's statement: 94-95 covers will fit on a stock <= '93 car but you can't put <='93 valve covers on a stock '94-'95 without a spacer.

The Foxes use a gray cast aluminum cover, the SN has a black stamped cover. Fox valve covers usually don't clear the alternator.

Yea ... Fox VC's fit on our cars :)

I don't run a spacer on mine :nono:

The Edel intakes give a bit more room between the lower part of the upper and the vc's :nice:

As for the alt touching the front of the vc

    Easy Cheesy Fix

Just use a thin washer on the mount points to shim the alt out ......
    just a hair ;)

If you're gonna be a hot rodder
Ya gotta be a bit creative when fittin up all the different parts :Word:

There was no chance of fitting the Fox valve covers on my car. You would have had to put 5 washers on the alternator. However, I don't know how close it is on stock heads. If you shim the alternator out, you have to shim the crank pulley out, and all the other accesories out too. Much easier to just buy valve covers that fit.

I see your point here Kurt

I can say I used AFR heads and I think you run TFS
    so
That might be the difference

I only needed something like sixty thousands to clear things :)

I wasn't worried about that tiny amount throwing off the belt/pulley
thing and it has been that way for years without any isuses

I use old Canfield 192cc heads. They are a compatibility pain in the ass.
