Ok, i read my manual on my 06, and it says i should use 87 octane. I've always been under the belief that higher octanes are only good for preventing pinging (preignition) and that 87 is just fine for everyone.

However, when looking into special tunings, i see that the tunings are optimized for specific grades of gas, like 89 or 93. Why is that? If i get a special tune (damn torque limiter!) do i have to pay extra for super grade gas?

Can anyone give me the true story about 87/89/93 grades?

Theres a huge thread in here about it.. search and read my friend. And tuners can be tuned using any grade gas.
