So i have an 03 cobra bone stock. Got it a few days ago. I noticed that after i put clutch in and put it into 1st gear. I hear some kind of pop in the back. It almost does it everytime. Sometimes it does it in second gear. Does anyone know whats goin on. Is this normal? Also another question. I know this is very dumb but i can't seem to find the tranny dipstick. I also have an '02 gt auto and i know that in that one the tranny dipstick is on the passenger side next to the heads in the back and the lid is in bright yellow and says transmission fluid but can't find it in the cobra.

Clutch popping noise could be a T/O bearing....or a bad cable.

There is no trans dipstick on a manual transmission. There is a fill plug and a drain plug on the side of the trans, that can only be seen by getting under the car.

I just bought an 04 cobra and I think you are describing the same noise I have. Kind of sounds like a thud from the rear when putting the car in first or second sometimes. I would also like to know if this is normal or not for these cars. Thanks.

Putting the shifter into gear at a stoplight and hearing that sound is pretty much normal for IRS cobras (99+). The "thud" has been well documented by IRS owners.
