At the risk of sounding stupid, i'll ask anyway:)

My parents bought a used 05 Mustang V6 premium, automatic (yes i said auto) as we needed another car. Car looks brand new and everything, drives great. My dad took it out for a test today and commented that it hit 4th and 5th gear really quick. He was telling me that i'd have to be really careful not to redline it and watch the tachometer.

when accelerating from rest, it gets close to redline before he backed down. He said it seemed to have a really short 1st and 2nd gear? When cruising (at any speeds), it doesnt do that. If this makes any sense, is this normal?
    Thanks

It also has a built in rev limiter which is set well below the engine's true "red line"

yeah the red line is 5500, but that where you get max power so you really dont need to go more.

anyway like i said. romp away it will shift no need to lay off.
